Bonjour! My name is Thomas Bergeron. I am a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellow at the Université de Montréal. I earned my Ph.D. in the department of Political Science at University of Toronto and was a Research Fellow in the Policy, Elections, and Representation Lab (PEARL).
My research explores the mechanisms that drive polarization and social divisions, as well as strategies to mitigate them. Drawing on insights from psychology and behavioural science, I aim to develop interventions that promote constructive political engagement. For example, my dissertation examined the role of empathy in shaping attitudes and behaviours, particularly in the context of affective polarization and climate change.
